A refurbishment of an apartment within a 1950s iconic example of Zagreb’s residential architecture, designed by architect Drago Galić. Given the quality of the original architecture, interventions were kept minimal and primarily subtractive. The ceiling was partially opened to reveal the finely ribbed reinforced concrete beams, increasing the height of the living and dining areas. A wider opening was introduced between the entrance and the living space, allowing the apartment to open up immediately upon entry and enhancing the flow of daylight through the space from both sides. Remaining interventions focus on custom-designed built-in elements, ensuring the space is fully adapted to the client’s lifestyle while preserving the building’s original architectural ideas.
