The kindergarten responds to the expansion of Sesvete, a satellite city of Zagreb, by introducing a new public building that combines a kindergarten and a local community council, strengthening the area’s social infrastructure. Set within a semi-rural residential context, the project is organized around an elongated, horizontal primary volume – the “capsule” – which forms the spatial and functional core of the building and contains the main kindergarten program. Secondary volumes are added to this core as lighter, pavilion-like elements, accommodating complementary functions such as administration, shared halls, and multipurpose spaces. This clear hierarchy allows the building to balance compactness and clarity with spatial richness, while articulating a sequence of indoor and outdoor spaces that support both everyday use and broader community activities.
