Un/building

Responding to the overarching theme of the 59th Zagreb Salon, “Dialogues / Monologues”, the project establishes multiple layers of textual and graphic dialogues and/or monologues that mirror spatial ones. The textual dialogues are based on responses to two selected sets of theses on unbuilding: those of the French architectural duo Lacaton & Vassal (from their lecture “Never Demolish”, delivered at Harvard GSD in 2022), and those of Croatian architectural critic Antoaneta Pasinović (from the text “Gradoubilački kroj ili gradograditeljski proboj”, published in the journal “Čovjek i prostor” in 1979). Selected theses and responses were compiled, graphically designed, and printed in the format of a fanzine (105 × 297 mm). This was inserted into the original issue no. 318 of “Čovjek i prostor” from 1979, on the spread in which Pasinović’s original text appears. In this way, a graphic dialogue between the two printed formats was established.
